For a war to end earlier than the scheduled time which is 5:00 PM PT, the condition that needs to be met is based on the time the war is declared.
When a war is declared, the system registers all members at that time to the list of war participants. Every empty space provides 7 flame points to the opposing team. If one side has fewer member than the other, then war can end immediately after reaching 350 Flame Points.
The above explanation means that if Team A with 40 members declared a war on Team B with 45 members, Team B can end the war early once they reach 350 flame points. Here are other simple confirmation if war can end or not:
Team A - 50 vs 50 - Team B = Cannot End Early
Team A - 10 vs 5 - Team B = Can End Early
Team A - 20 vs 20 - Team B = Cannot End Early
Team A - 43 vs 42 - Team B = Can End Early
If a team member from one side quits in the middle of the war battle, nothing will change in terms of the condition to end war early. Here's an example:
Team A - 50 vs 50 - Team B
Team A - 1 Member Left
Result = Cannot End Early
Team A - 43 vs 42 - Team B
Team B - 1 Member Left
Result = Can End Early
Team A - 10 vs 11 - Team B
Team B - 1 Member Left
Result = <Conditional> - If Member that left the team has contributed 7 flame points before leaving, War can end early if Team B is able to reach 350 flame points first. If Member that left did not contribute, War can still end early if the remaining 10 members is able to perform an attack that provides 7 flame points and is the first to reach 350 flame points.
Another example for this is even if the battle is 50 vs 50 and 49 members on one side left the team, the war will continue until the scheduled time. As explained above, the condition to end the war early is decided based on the time the war was declared. Even members on both side will never end early no matter what happens on that war.
How to counter this?
There is no way to counter this with 100% certainty except defending until some of their members cannot contribute 7 flame points and all remaining attacks has been consumed.
However, if Team A with 10 members reached 350 flame points first vs Team B with 11 members where 1 of its member left, the war will continue until 5:00 PM PT. This will add another condition on the above example:
Team A - 10 vs 11 - Team B
Team B - 1 Member Left
Result = <Conditional> - If Member that left the team has contributed 7 flame points before leaving, War can end early if Team B is able to reach 350 flame points first. If Member that left did not contribute, War can still end early if the remaining 10 members is able to perform an attack that provides 7 flame points and is the first to reach 350 flame points. If Team A is able to reach 350 flame points first, war will not end immediately and will continue until 5:00 PM PT.
