What are Dragon Perch?
Show off your dragons and have them defend your base the way you have always wanted to! Your dragons are able to be placed on three perches to guard and protect some of your islands after fully exploring those islands. When a dragon is placed on one of your perches, it will attack the enemy dragons who are trying to lay waste to your base! The perch will have different benefits and attack strengths depending on the type, rarity, and strength of the dragon you place on it!
Where can I place Dragon Perch?
Three perches are placed in three small islands. They can be upgraded and players can place dragons on them once they've fully explored the island. The dragon on the perch will attack incoming dragons and, depending on its rarity, add additional benefits to the towers placed on that island.
What should I know about Dragon Perch?
- Dragons do not benefit from any boost except when fed with food while perched. Their damage is based on their Tier, level and Perch building level.
- Dragons that are stationed to perch will be unavailable for attack use and they will be taken out of your active dragon roster.
- Dragons on perches will gain a small amount of experience for being on the perch daily.
- Player can choose to feed the dragon which boosts attack damage for certain time.
- Weaker perches won't be able to station powerful dragons but stronger perches will be able to. Upgrade your perch!
- Perches don't have supershots.
- Black pearls are required to build and upgrade the perch. Black Pearls will be available from Gold Chests (and soon from event prizes).
- Each dragon confers bonus benefits to their island based on dragon type and rarity
- Rare Dragons
- No extra benefits
- Epic Dragons
- Perch's island is protected (10% reduced damage) from dragons with the same element as the perch dragon
- Rare Dragons
- Legendary
- Sorcerer: Supershots are 15% more effective (Damaging shots do more damage, shields have more hp/last longer and resource buildings heal for more)
- Hunter: Increases attack of towers by 10% on the island
- Warrior: Increases health of all towers by 15% on the island
- Mythic
- Sorcerer: Supershot charge has a chance to be refunded by 25% of the time
- Hunter: Perched Dragon deals 2x the damage 20% of the time
- Warrior: Randomly selects a nearby building to be shielded for 25% of its HP with a 4 seconds cooldown after being broken.
Which Dragons Can't Be Placed On The Perch?
Phweemp - Since it is an exceptionally unique dragon, it is currently incompatible due to animation. (It will wave Hi instead of attacking...)
Invoker Dragons - As this dragon type is fairly new, its perch ability is not yet decided. If this becomes available in the future, it will be properly announced.
Dragon Riders and Perch Dragons
Since the introduction of dragon riders in the game, they are able to be bonded to dragons and provide buffs to either the dragon they are bonded or the base when placed on a perch with their bonded dragons.
There are 2 types of Buff that a Dragon Rider provides to the base:
- Tower Buff
- Base Buff
Tower Buff - This pertains to buff related to specific towers or all the towers (Increase Ice Turret HP or Tower ATK). It only affects towers covered by the Perch building
Base Buff - This pertains to non Tower related buff like Increased Lumber Capacity, Reduced Research Time, Reduced Upgrade Time etc. Covers the entire base. However, only the highest buff % is used while the rest are grayed out (ie. 12% Upgrade Reduction vs 10% Upgrade Reduction. It will use 12% while the 10% is grayed out)
Perch Coverage
What's the meaning behind the icons beside the perch covers?
Sorcerer Dragon is placed
That provides the following buff (Element is based on Dragon element. Buff shown is of Mythic Rarity or remove the bottom buff for Legendary Rarity)
Refund Supershot means that if this activates, another supershot will be used by that same tower without costing a supershot ammo on its own.
Hunter Dragon is placed
That provides the following buff (Element is based on Dragon element. Buff shown is of Mythic Rarity or remove the bottom buff for Legendary Rarity)
2x Attack means that if it activates, it will deal 2 times the damage to one attack
Warrior Dragon is placed
That provides the following buff (Element is based on Dragon element. Buff shown is of Mythic Rarity or remove the bottom buff for Legendary Rarity)
Tower Ward means that a random tower within its coverage will be shielded. The shield HP is based on the tower it is protecting. This means that if a tower has 100,000,000 HP, the shield will have a 25,000,000 HP. Once the shield is destroyed, another one is applied to a random tower after 4 seconds. The HP Bar of the tower will not go down while the shield is active which may feel like it has infinite HP. This functions the same way like how Explosive Shield works with not decreasing your dragon's HP until it is destroyed.
What are the limitations for Dragon Perches?
When a perch is below level 30, it will not provide the full buffs. A percentage of its overall buff will be used until the player has upgraded the perch to level 30. The message that would appear on the Perch > Rider is:
"Buff on this Rider has reduced to 53.3% (This can be any %). Keep upgrading perch to level 30 to get full buff!"
Like what is explained on the Base Buff, if there is a dragon rider providing a higher base buff, they are used instead of the other dragon rider's buff. This only pertains to a certain buff so it doesn't mean that if a single buff is grayed out, the dragon rider itself becomes useless.
This is what will show when a buff is grayed out
If you tap the icon, it will display you the following information below:
This would mean that one of your other dragon rider is applying the buff at a higher rate than the dragon rider that you are viewing.
FAQ
Q: Do the Runes applied to a Dragon affect its performance on the perch?
A: No. There is no difference between fully-Runed and non-Runed Dragons whilst they're perched.
Q: My Rider's Buff is grayed out even though the perch is above level 30
A: There are 2 reasons that a stat is grayed out. First would be that you are using a dragon related buff/gear which is meant for attacking base. Second would be that another perch is already providing a similar of equal amount or higher. This means that if Perch A is providing 20% Increase Food Production, and you are checking Perch B with a 15% Increase Food Production, it does not give a total of 35% but only 20% as this buff is applied to the whole base.
